The imminent arrival of summer (such that it is in England !), heralds the end of one season and the start of another for two of our local Britcom sponsored sporting teams.
Terrington Glory FC managed to just pick up enough points to narrowly avoid relegation from the premier division of the York Football League. It has to be said that it has been a largely disappointing season with the odd excellent result, interspersed with some poor performances. However, to be starting a fourth season in the top tier of local football is still a creditable achievement for a small village side and manager, Dave Bradshaw, remains optimistic of an improvement in 2015/16 with a better pre-season combined with some astute activity in the summer transfer window !
Londesborough Park Cricket Club First X1 have just commenced their new season in Division 2 of the York Senior League. As a result of the long-standing commitment to youth development at the Park, the team is now benefitting from a good mix of talented youngsters and old campaigners. Early signs have been positive and the team lie 3rd in the table after three matches, although this has not been helped by the typically cold and wet spring weather.
