17th September 2014
Britcom are currently main sponsors for three local sports teams.
Britcom have for a number of years sponsored the first X1 of our local cricket team, Londesborough Park. Founded in the 1860’s, the ground is renowned as one of the most picturesque in the whole country. Londesborough Park run two senior Saturday teams, an evening league team and have a thriving junior section attracting many local children to regularly practice and play for the various age group teams. The 1st team have just completed the 2014 season and finished in a creditable 6th place in Division 2 South of the York Senior League which is the premier local cricket competition. Hopefully, with recent signings and some of the promising juniors coming through, they will be ready for a promotion push in 2015.
Terrington Glory Football Club compete in the Premier Division of the York League. Sponsored by Britcom, the Glory achieved promotion to the top tier in 2012 and have gone on to finish mid-table in the last two seasons which is a major achievement for a side from a very small village north of York, competing against long-established and well-resourced teams. The first month of the 2014-15 season has been difficult for Terrington, largely due to an unkind fixture list pitting them against all of the top teams combined with unavailability of key players at times. Hopefully, the team will start to soon pick up points to move away from the relegation zone as we move into autumn.
Pocklington RUFC Under 10’s is our latest sponsorship deal for the 2014/2015. The team have been together since they were under 6's with some of the team starting at the ripe old age of 5! The team have had great continuity since they started from their 'Head Coach' , Andy Holloway, who is an ex Pock rugby first team player.
Over the years the team has grown in numbers and there are now 5 parents involved with coaching, training and managing the team. Justine Sangwin is responsible for all the admin, social and sponsorship side and the other coaches include Andy Rhodes, Andy Mason, Neil Sissons and Shane Sellers. Shane works at Britcom and helped secure the funding for the Team.
The season for the under 10’s starts on 5th October and we would like to take this opportunity to wish them well and look forward to following their success throughout the season.
