Britcom sponsored Kathryn Lazenby will be heading out to the Cross Triathlon World Championships in Sardinia next week to represent Great Britain.
Kathryn, a fire fighter based in North Yorkshire has sourced a coach, Nicky Proctor, to help with her training programme this year; this has added an element of structure and intensity to her training programme and she is already seeing significant time improvements in all three disciplines.
Kathryn has high hopes for the upcoming World Championships, which consists of an open water swim of 1500m, a mountain bike ride of between 30-40km and a 10km run taking around 3.5 hours to complete in all, is the culmination of years of hard training and competitions.
However, to enable Kathryn to follow her ambition to continue to attain places on the GB squad to compete at the highest level in her sport not only takes a great deal of commitment and training, but also requires a level of financial commitment as the Cross Triathlon Squad are currently self funded.
Kathryn said "Without the support of Britcom, and my other main sponsor, Cycle Street Of York, competing at this level and representing my country would not be possible so I would like to take this opportunity to thank both of them for their generosity."
Cross Triathlon is very similar to a road triathlon, except the event is run off road with a lake or sea swim of 1.5km, a mountain bike leg of 30km and a 10km trail run. It's definitely not for the faint hearted!
