Morrisons Supermarket - Delivery Trailers
We can offer a full project management service for fleet repair and repaint from quotation to full relivery application and return to depot.
Morrisons, the national UK supermarket chain initiated a rebranding and relivery programme at the beginning of 2008. This includes an ongoing full relivery and refurbishment project on all their supermarket delivery vehicles.
Britcom were chosen as one of the premier bodyshops to implement this extensive programme, based on their first class facilities and reputation for high quality.
Britcom have a rolling programme with 10 trailers continuously on site in various stages of repair and painting.
The project involves both structural and cosmetic repairs, shotblasting, repainting and application of new Morrisons livery.
The work programme flows in 5 key stages:
Stage 1
- Full assessment of repairs and painting requirement and submission of quotation covering delamination of GRP bodywork, remedial work on previous repairs, replacement of sideguards, repair/strengthening of rear frames, fitting new insulated rear shutters etc
- Quotations are processed and submitted within 48 hours of vehicle being on site
- Once authorisation is accepted, decals and paint materials are ordered and work is commenced.
Stage 2
- Vehicle is fully steam cleaned and all existing logos and decals are removed

- All structural and cosmetic repairs and pre-paint preparation are carried out in the bodyshop
This includes:
- Replacing de-laminated and damaged sections of bodywork including 'Plug' panel repairs
- Welding, strengthening and re-fabricating stainless steel rear frames
- Manufacturing and fitting new side-guards and rear crash bars etc
- Fitting new body cappings
- Refurbishing or replacing rear shutter doors
- Replacing damaged sealer from all body joints and seams.
Stage 3
- The trailer chassis, running gear and wheels are shotblasted with aluminium oxide grit to remove old paint and corrosion. This is done in Britcom's fully recycling blast booth.
Stage 4
- The unit then moves to the paintshop to be painted using the approved PPG Coatings paint system
- Chassis and sideguards are painted with anti-corrosion primer followed by black top coat
- Front panel and rear shutter door is painted white
- Body frames and wheels are painted silver
- The paint is heat dried in Britcom's low-bake spray oven.
Stage 5
- The trailer is then moved back to the body shop where detachable parts are re-fitted
- The distinctive 'full wrap' graphics are then applied in the new Morrisons livery
- The graphics are then sealed on all edges to preven water ingress.
When the trailer has been finished it undergoes a rigorous 20 stage quality check process before being released for delivery back to Morrisons depot in Wakefield.

Each trailer takes approximately 4 weeks to complete giving them a new lease of life for around 7 years.
