Sharron Pattison Logistics - EFFER 1750

We were approached by our customer Mr Gary Pattison Jnr of Sharron Pattison Logistics, for whom we have manufactured trailers and painted vehicles in the past.

What he was looking for was a new 80 txm lorry loader crane to operate alongside their existing vehicle which is an 8x4 rigid equipped with a 50 txm crane.

After showing Gary the full range of EFFER cranes available, it was decided that they would require an even larger capacity crane than they had thought and decided upon a 1750 8S which would become the largest lorry mounted knuckle boom crane in the UK.

A visit to the EFFER factory in Bologna Italy was arranged and attended by both Gary Snr, Gary Jnr and our Operations Manager Brent Carmichael.  It was whilst at the factory that not only was a 1750 8S seen in production, but the customer was able to operate a crane fitted to a new chassis.  During the operation it immediately became apparent to both Gary’s the benefits of an EFFER crane and the smoothness in the operation compared to their current crane.

Whilst at the factory, the customer also had the opportunity to operate a 585 6S crane fitted with a 4S fly-jib and winch.  It became instantly evident how versatile such a crane would be fitted with such accesories. On returning to the UK and order was placed with ourselves to supply and fit an EFFER 1750 8S complete with a 6S fly-jib and a 6000kg winch mounted from the main crane.  DAF FAD XF 105 8x4 II

As Sharron Pattisons operate a predominantly DAF fleet of trucks, a meeting was arranged between themselves, Imperial Commercials, DAF Technical and ourselves to identify a suitable base chassis for the crane to be mounted to.  After completing several stability and weight calculations, it was eventually decided on a DAF XF 105 8x4 drawbar chassis cab.

Once the chassis arrived with us, it was prepared and fully painted in the Sharron Pattison corporate colour of Violet.

Prior to the crane arriving from Italy the chassis was stripped and fully strengthened ready to accept the crane.

Upon arrival on our premises, as the crane was already fitted with an integrated subframe, the installation of the crane and supplementary stabilisers took only one week to complete.  1750 arriving on site

The chassis was then fitted with extras requested by the customer such as additional fuel tanks, side skirts, alloy mudguards, heated hand wash, 5th wheel, LED lamps etc etc etc.

To complete the full chassis was prepared and repainted again.

To compliment the crane, a demountable ballast body equipped with lockers and storage space was manufactured to house the fly-jib and winch pulleys.  This is attached to the chassis via twist-locks.  If a semi-trailer is to be coupled, the body is designed to be removed and stored securely on the neck area of the semi-trailer so the truck will always be equipped for the job in hand requested of the crane.

Effer 1750 testThe crane has now gone into service working on a great variety of operations which are achievable thanks to the versatility of such a tremendous piece of engineering.
