Transaid Week 29 June - 3 July
This week is Transaid Week. Last year, the first ever Transaid Week raised over £10,000. This year's objective is £20,000. Read on to find out more and see if you can help achieve that objective.
Transaid Week is a week long celebration aimed at raising awareness and funds to continue Transaid's vital work across Africa. It gives members and supporters the chance to learn about Transaid's projects and to personally help make a difference.
Funds raised go towards the pioneering Professional Driver Training Project in Zambia. The project is aimed at training commercial drivers to improve safety standards on the roads in Zambia, a country where road accidents are the third hightest cause of death after HIV/AIDS and Malaria.
Last year Britcom donated two trailers to Transaid which went to the Professional Driver Training Project in Zambia. Chantelle Cummings of Transaid went out there to see how the trailers were doing and very kindly sent us some pictures back.
The trailers are proving invaluable in the training of commercial vehicle drivers out there as they can often be required to turn long heavy loads around in roads with hoards of people, as these images show.
